Training Roster is now a Google sheet forwarded to members by Yvonne via email on Sunday.
In days gone by... ROSTERER’s 10 RULES : 1. The rosterer loves definitive words in emails and hates namby-pamby language. You’re either available or not. The rosterer is also a bit thick so don’t make him/her guess anything. 2. Try to reply or send with ARCTR in the title as it hits a particular email folder. 3. Generally if you have a regular blocked or free day, that remains blocked or free unless you tell me. 4. The usual cut-off for alterations is Saturday night – I finalise and publish it all on Sunday. 5. In general, if something crops up late for whatever reason, and you’re rostered, it’s up to you to find a substitute. If it’s my mistake, I’ll find one. 6. I try to spread coaching around. You might not see a coach for a week or two, then you might have a couple. It all evens out. It depends on regattas, groupings, speed of groups. Singles/other boats I try to group on speed – coaches don’t want to chase boats all over the Bay. 7. Outside of regattas, I don’t usually specify which boats to use. Know which are quarantined. I usually roster based on expected boat usage. 8. The rosterer would love to know any private coaching organised so he/she can balance it against regular coaching and ensure fairness, particularly if it's in regular training hours. 9. If you’re unwell on the morning, please try to call or send a SMS (email is usually useless) to someone in your crew. That’s most important if you’re being coached. If you’re down for a 1x, still helpful in case people wonder if you’re coming. You might want to start plugging a few numbers in your phone. 10. Bad weather : unless someone calls it off, assume it’s on. Rain at your home may not be happening at the Shed. And vice versa, some mornings you’ll arrive and it’s worse than before. Just accept that you’ll get up early for nothing occasionally.
